Mike colour sharpness and detail look really good on what looks like the female of the species, nothing else to draw the eye,I like this.

I like the bird on that perch along with the nice high key background. Pretty bird with nice muted colors.

I would clone out the 2 yellowish patches on the bottom of the frame to the left of the snag. Also the bird seems a bit noisy and would probably benefit from some noise reduction. You are brave to take your 7d2 to ISO 2000. I never take mine above ISO 800 due to too much noise. Also it would be ideal if the birds head was parallel to the back of the camera.

    Thankyou both for your comments.

I know the ISO was a tad high - these small woodland birds were a bit twitchy and was finding I in general needed 1/1000 sec to get them sharp (as luck would have it this one was quite still for a few seconds but, hey, those were the settings I had) and with f8 to get the DOF I was somewhat hamstrung.

Isaac, when you say "it would be ideal if the birds head was parallel to the back of the camera" do you mean in profile? I had a couple where the head was turned a tad more (example below) - this head angle thing can be tricky sometimes.

Don't know what I am doing wrong but I lightened the image a tad then couldn't delete the original attachment. Oh, well.

Yes I did mean with the head like that. It is a better view of the bird.

To delete what you did go to edit. Go to advanced or something like that. Then scroll down to manage attachments. Delete what you had and the attach again. Should be easy.
