As promised, another frame from the Baboon series.

Never a dull moment with those chaps...I am not sure whether Mom was busy removing ticks, or perhaps she was looking for those fine salt crystals baboons nibble on. It was delightful to watch the baby, he was studying carefully her every movement and trying to imitate what she was doing. At some point Mom picked up something between her fingers and placed it in her mouth. I pressed the shutter just in time to capture the little one opening its mouth in wonder, the expression on his face just priceless...

Hi Gabriela .... priceless good !!!!
Love the expression of the youngster and your always great story telling ..... very nice , i really miss hat here .
Color tone combo works quite well here , and you have the fine lovely details in the fur , which i really like !!!
Again a very emotional image that grabs me .... just for the great interaction between mum and kid .
As a tonal option .... i might give both subjects a tiny bit more tonal variation .... just a thought.

Keep them coming if time allows .

TFS Andreas .... good to see you posting !!!!

Gabriela I'm loving these shots and rack my brain trying to imagine what is going on in it's head ,and of course the taste thing adds to it all, colours and texture on the little fella have to be close to perfection.

I echo Andreas great to see you posting.

    Dear Andreas and Keith,

Thank you so much, you guys are awesome

Will look at improving tonality, Andreas. My initial thinking was to emphasize the little one, he is the focus of attention and I felt he needed to stand out.

So good to be back...Things are a bit hectic on my side (business/ work wise), but such joy to be home again

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

A very nice story-telling image with high cute factor, Gabriela!
A very happy and prosperous 2017 to you
Perhaps add a hint more local contrast to the baboons?

Hi Gabriela - Great title and story telling image. Good suggestions above too. I'm glad to see you had a good outing. I wonder how the introduction of the male lions will change the dynamics of your local park.

    Rachel

Thank you again for those kind comments, I am so glad this amused you:)
Had another look this morning and you are right, it does look like the image needs some more work. Wondering whether I actually finished it Here's a version with a bit more punch, WDYT?

Rachel, at first I was concerned about those new males being released this side of the Park because we have a few lionesses with cubs. But I was told the other day they will be moved quite far from here. Not sure they'll make a great impact, it will be interesting to chat with the researchers and hear what they have to say. I will let you know. And I will go look for them, soon

    Have a good day everyone!

Hi Gabriela -- The only correction that I thought the image needs was a bit more punch and your RP has ensured the same . Lovely moment , quite emotional and credit to you for looking into it and capturing it so beautifully .

    TFS !

The RP definitely gives this the final polish, and shows the shot off to its best, focussing a little more attention on the youngster. I like the low angle you've shot from, being higher up would have ruined the image.

Its going to take a huge amount of shots for me to get bored of these!

It is remarkable that I can glance at tiny tiny thumbnail and before my brain can read words I get a spark of joy 'cause Gabby has posted? Gabbby the emotional content in your images is something deeply special ,you are amazing with words to but your images almost convey those words with out you having to. Such a gift Gabby, love your images !!

The watching and reading of the situation is something one tries for: I've always tried to get inside their heads Gabby that's something that almost comes from childhood I feel, but, the actuation of shutter press at exactly the right moment something I can oft only aspire to You have utterly nailed that here. Wonderful moment caught mate, the interaction priceless and yes you know already i'm smiling

I like the repost Gabby that is what is so illuminating here,I felt your OP was really good , and really there was not much more to be had. But as is so often the case the dialogues bring out an enhancement in the image .

A joy mate,a real joy to view the intensity of bond almost a jaw drop from little one, pov I concur had to be low, lovely soft light.

    Thanks Gabby

    Stu

still smiling and off to find more

Thank you Mike, Haseeb and Stu:)

You are extremely kind with your comments and I do appreciate it.

Busy working on a few "baboonscapes". Just kidding, trying to pull Morkel's leg I actually like getting close to to those guys, they are so interesting to observe and so much expression to capture. More to come, so brace yourselves!

    Have a wonderful evening,

Hi Gabriela, you have a lovely series of images from this encounter, which are also quite emotional too, you captured thinks very nicely.

A bit more DoF I feel, push the ISO... I think somewhere between the two, but applied selectively.
