Great angle and light, Mike. I would give it a bit more room. The DOF is really razor thin. The head is perfectly sharp, it would have been great if the tail were, too.
Hey Mike, Love the low angleI agree and disagree with Alex. Agree that the bird is too big in the frame, but, for 25 years I have done OK focusing on the eye and not giving a rat's *** about depth of field. Would like to see this just a bit darker.
This is one of the birds from our afternoon at the north end, correct?
later and love, artie

This is a very nice capture and certainly does look like the north end in it's nice late afternoon/evening light.
For more DOF, you would have had to sacrifice your iso a little bit, as you were already at 1/200 of a second, and while you could have chanced shooting at a slower speed, you might have lost the image or sharpness.
I think one thing that might have been nice would have been if that droplet was a little more solidified and discernable at the base of the bill.
very nice job all around though. Makes me miss summer.....
Lovely, Mike :)
I like the selective focus in the eye, but agree on it being personal taste.
I like it Mike !!!! Sweet light on that bird Just the extra room and slightly more density!!!
Nice low angle and great light!
Excellent image... love the light and post, and the low angle cannot be beat. Atiny bit of of room on the left and this would be a winner. Thanx for sharing.
Very fine post. I love the low angle, soft water and gorgeous light. Just a bit tight for my tastes. But thats a minor nit.
