A very happy and blessed 2017 to all my BPN friends! May this year bring you good sights, good light and great shots

Every year I post my list of personal favourites (not necessarily "best of", more based on memories, experiences and journeys) on my blog.
You can read this year's post here: http://bit.ly/Morkel2016

This photo is included, and also fits the theme!

There were a couple of photos I'd not had the chance to capture on previous visits to Etosha. The one was a chance to get close to the famous "white" elephant bulls, which I was able to. The second was of a male lion against the backdrop of the desolate Etosha pan. Here is one such photo that I was happy with!

Lovely Etosha scape here Morkel, the comp and lighting depicted tell the story superbly, I do feel you might be able to eek out a little more detail in that sky perhaps?....just a thought.

Hi Morkel - A very nice opening scape which shows the expanse of the Etosha Pan extremely well. I like the placement of the lion in the frame. My thought is along the same line as Marc's, the cloud feels a little heavy. You could either try to extract additional detail or perhaps a more pano crop with about 1/2 of the cloud cropped out from the top.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Great framing with the little head turn being a massive bonus!

I like the pastel colours as presented, so whilst I love shots with crazy skies, this all fits well together with the overall feel of the scene

A very clean and simple image Morkel, looks like he is on one of our Norfolk beaches.
