Happy new year to all. May you have health, happiness, great shots and hopefully some new and exciting gear

We have been getting unprecedented numbers of Royal Terns roosting on the beaches of Staten Island every fall. Seems each year the numbers build up even more. High counts were almost 100 birds in the same spot. 10 years ago it was hard to find more than 1 or 2. This bird was begging for food from a nearby parent. It reminds me of what is to come for the next generation and the next year. I chose to leave the crop loose and to show the water and the sand in that perfect evening light. Wish the beak was not right at the horizon line but it still works for me.

Canon 7d ii and Canon 500 f4 ii. Tripod mounted while lying on ground. ISO 400, F5.6, SS 1/2000

Converted in DPP 4. In PS I sharpened, applied NR to background an cloned out a few small shells on the beach.
