    Default Grey Seal love .....

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hello folks ....... yes more Seals !!!!
This time a mating pair .... actually i do not know if he was successful ... as many times the bulls are not able to mate physically as the females are not that cooperative .And they try to get away .... and that makes the copulation difficult, even when the males have them " caught" .
It does look sometimes brutal what the bulls are doing to get the female .
Nevertheless mother nature wanted it to happen .... that way .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
    EF 200 - 400 IS L with TC engaged ( 560 mm)
    Tripod

    F 7,1 ; Iso 16.000 ; 1/2000 sec
    man Exp.

Processed with Capture One Pro 10 and PS CC 2017 ; cropped for comp from both sides ; no more room for bottom and top .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous thread .

    Cheers Andreas

Nice intense framing here, Andreas. I like the detail and depth you captured even at f7.1
Way to go in pushing that ISO!
It does look like a loving bite more than a dominating bite?

Hi Andreas - Interesting behavior and I agree it does not look vicious. She sort of looks like she is smiling if seals smile. The tight framing works. Looks like the beach slopes slightly but straightening will probably result in too tight a crop. Seems like you had a good trip.

Hi Andreas -- Lovely image , yet again ! Certainly appears as a romantic situation and you have framed it well , I don't mind the image being tight , the focus is only on their faces . Lovely details and sharpness . Seems using high iso's is not an issue at all with the MKII .

    TFS !

very clean quality looks good (recall that previously you had some reservations) I note Capture 1 was used.

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments , much appreciated .
To clarify the emotional side folks ......... when you watch the bulls trying to get the females for mating .... it does not look like love . They bite them in all parts of the body , they throw their full weight (up to 230 kg ) onto them to push them down to the ground .They try to hold them with their teeth and front flippers .
All does look more heavy handed than sensual behavior .

Thanks Jon for your thoughts regarding my reservations .... still have them ... as i would have preferred bright skies and / or sunshine , with that scenery comes lower Iso which i rather prefer .Not complaining about the 1 DX MK II , it delivers great files when it comes to noise . But if i would have the choice i would rather work with lower Iso settings as the IQ is simply better .

    Thanks again Cheers Andreas

Goes without saying Andreas, but it just delivers and leaves others wanting.

I can see this working as a nice Quadtone too.

Thanks for the Quad tone version and i have to agree that it does work too .... difficult to say which one is more attractive .

    Dear Andreas,

I think this male is actually trying to wake his female up... she seems fast asleep and maybe dreaming too?

I really like the way you captured this, superb techs. I am not afraid of high ISO as you know, as long as the SS is there:)

For some strange reason I would like to see the end of the female's flipper, do you by any chance have more on the LHS of the frame?

Superb PP work, tons of expression here and lots of room for interpretation - what a great behaviour frame this is, Boetie, thank you so much for sharing

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
