    Default northern pintail descent

I love being at Bosque and looking for the "action". I found a sweet spot for an afternoon shoot and if the wind was cooperating, the pintails would fly in and fly past a stand of colorful brush...

Details, background and pose are all top notch. Just beautiful. Only problem is that the bird is facing slightly away from us. Maybe a few frames prior to this would have been ideal.

Ann I think this is a beautiful image,I love the way that you have caught this with it's air brakes on ,the colour palette is great, just wish I had done it.

    A really dynamic shot, Ann.
I'm not convinced its a problem that the bird is angled slightly away because the detail on the tail and feathers really shows off the 'air brakes' as keith puts it so appropriately - if it was angled more towards us I think it would be more a portrait of a bird in flight and it would lose some of the 'shapes' in the action of landing.

A sweet spot indeed! Wonderful pose, color palette. Fairly aggressive sharpening has brought out tons of fine detail. The angle of the bird is fine with me.

Yes he is facing away a bit but the HA saves the shot for me. We can also see the tail better at this angle. The colors, exposure and details look fantastic.
    Well done Ann

Works for me, as David wrote... the HA and splayed tail save the image. Lovely colors and detail. Thank you for sharing, Ann.

I agree - beautiful light, beautiful pose and exceptional detail on the tail make this a very sweet frame.

love the BG and the dynamic pose, there is no denying this frame would have been more intense and attractive with the bird angled towards us but everything fell in the place very nicely. the highlights look a bit hot

This is a beautiful frame Ann.
Love the color palette and the dynamic tension in this image. BG "to die for".
My only suggestion would be to tame the whites in the neck if you can.
    Really, really good!

Just beautiful and elegant a real treat for my eyes. As mentioned previously I would agree about taming some of the brightest highlights. This would make a lovely print.

Beautiful Image. Agree with all the points. I like the wing span and the way you have captured the moment.

Thank you for sharing the image.
