A very nice shot it is too Rachel (I am glad I checked I was about to post a bison myself!!) I like the two eyes visible, a very clean file with fine detail. I know they can vary somewhat in colour especially at different time of the day, I am tempted to suggest a little more punch in the bison's coat may add a little (selective color - blacks - black, neutral-black) more punch or pop. Having said that I do like the image as presented. I also think you have a good cut off point at the shoulder.

Hi Rachel -- Lovely details and i liked the vertical comp. That grass blade stuck in its beard really looks nice and adding to the image. The grass blade below the right eye is a bit distracting .

Hi Rachel a fine solid portrait of the Bison .You have nice detail , colors and a pleasing BG ...not too busy !
I like the clearly visible eyes with some nice life in them , i am fine with the coat in terms of tonal contrast .. just think the blacks are a tiny bit too solid in parts .
Comp works well.

Rachel I think the texture of the fur is lovely and some fine detail especially on the nose, don't know why I am so keen on that bit of grass but I am,takes all sorts.

Hi Rachel, nice portrait and I agree about the grass, but I know you won't remove it which is a shame as it would improve things IMHO, however...
You could also try a Duotone, but lighten the grass so you have more tonal difference between subject & BKG.

Lovely Bison portrait Rachel... I agree with Andres on the blacks being a touch too black.
