    Default Sandhill Crane

Several days ago we went in search of the migrating Sandhills that dine in a few local corn fields. As luck would have it we found seven of them close to the road, so we stopped and quietly got our gear together only to spook them as we crept closer. We managed some flight images and were able to estimate just about where they were headed. We found them again in one of their corn fields, this time at a decent distance from the road. C&C welcome.

Hi Geoffrey, that's a nice bg that complements the colour of these birds very well,it's good that they are all looking the same way a just a pity that you did not have separation between the two middle birds but it would be lovely to have everything just as we would like it to be,I would be very very happy to have taken this.

Hi Geoff, great to be able to capture four, and that all are at least looking in the same direction.I like the colour of the distant BG, and wish the Crane at the back was more separated from the Crane 2nd from left.

Geoffrey - lovely shot I like the setting but I too wish the two central birds did not overlap. This may just be me but would the image look slightly better if it were just a tad warmer?

It is always a good day when you get 4 birds in a frame and they are all sharp and HA's are decent.
I find the image a bit dark and would be tempted to raise the exposure a bit.
I think Jonathan has a good idea re: increasing color temp.
    Very nice,
    Gail

Thank you Jonathan. This frame was originally warmed slightly. Maybe if I had indicated it was quite cold, later in the afternoon with patchy overcast and a slight bone chilling breeze, is why I chose to keep it on the cool side. Thanks also Gail, and it certainly is worth looking at a tad more warmth.
