Default Marmot hit by beam of light

Hi folks going on with another Marmot shot taken recently in Filzmoos ( Austria)
This habituated Marmot was enjoying a peanut that he found as leftover by his Marmot friends , just right in front of his burrow . The peanuts have been brought to them by visitors ..... too much from my POV , but you cannot tell people to stop it .
I went down low to get the perspective when i saw the situation from a short distance , loved the light situation .
I amplified the effect with a bit of local burning through masks ...in three steps , to achieve the desired effect .
    Hope you like it .

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    EF 70-200 IS L at 200 mm
    HH

    F 5,6 ; Iso 1250 ; 1/800 sec ( should have pushed the ISO for more f stop / SS )

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC 2017 ; cropped from bottom and added a bit of canvas to the top ; peanut gardening in FG

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting .

    Cheers Andreas

Andreas I really like the way you have done this even if I don't fully understand how, think the amplification of the light and the shadows and yourself of course have produced a smashing piece of work.

Hi Andreas - I like the key lighting effect on this with nice details. I could also see a version going darker in the lighter parts of the bg. Great low pov too.

Hi Andreas, nice POV and the open mouth adds to the capture. Yep, agree on your own thoughts re the techs, you'll love the MK2, especially if you ever need to recovery something, hopefully not, I'll drop you a line to try something.

Love the light, a great natural spot light on the subject, well executed. If you have time and inclination, I might just blend that vertical (subtle) stem in the BKG just in front of the face, purely on a continuity basis.

You saw the opportunity well, Andreas and the timing on the open mouth adds the final touch. Good one!

Thanks Mike , Hasseb , Steve , Rachel and keith for your comments , much appreciated .
Keith - very easy task to get the desired effect , just a bit of time consuming work to create the masks that enabled me to burn ( darken ) the already dark parts .
Steve - i knew you would say that , if you comment ! I was just to lazy to add that extra work , but had it in mind .
So here you go , just quickly made on the low res file . If you have more info regarding the MK II please do not hesitate to inform me , might help on Helgoland , i will have time as days are short !!!!!

    Cheers Andreas

Very well seen and processed Andreas, the open mouth and cheeky subject, and light interplay all come together very well, with your RP enhancing nicely.

Killer contrast here, the key light makes it pop!
I like the repost and the angle makes it all the better.
