Stonechat at sunset
The owl-hunting was a bust so a final throw before making the commitment to leave I tried a couple different things and tried a silhouette while trying to keep a small amount of detail in the bird.

Mike it's good to make the best of a bad situation ,there is certainly enough detail to show it is a Stonechat, like the bird with the bg but wish some of the taller twigs where missing.

Thank you Keith. I did wonder about the bird looking towards taller twigs in mid frame. So I have tried a portrait version - I think it loses something for being so narrow but comments for future reference would be welcome.

Mike just a personal take of course but I much prefer this version.

Yes, the composition of the repost is much stronger. If mine I'd be tempted to punch up the saturation a bit more.

I like the vertical best but I don't like images that are in between a silhouette. Since we can't see the eye at all, I would fill in the bird and make it solid. Nice thought though. TFS
