    Default Female Mallard Duck Preening

    Hi All,

    I took this image at Beus Pond Lake, Ogden. It was cloudy morning and I was happy to get close to the birds and photograph them. As the lake was frozen 3/4 they were very close to the edges and cooperative.

    I really like this image though I wish I had used a bit of fill flash.

    Nikon D500
    500mm f/4 + 1.4x TC
    ISO 800, f/5.6, 1/1000 sec

    Post Processing:-
    Cropping, Straightening, Exposure corrections ( Raising Shadow etc )
    PhotoshopCC, Lightroom, Neat Image and Nik Software.

    I actually like this one a lot. The hen looks great against the high key water and the details and exposure look spot on too. Nice colors captured on the speculum.
    I would maybe take a bit off the top but otherwise all looks good to me.
