    Hi Julie - I think this is a very good first post. I really like the overall high-key quality of the image and how the soft colours of the parrot are in sympathy with the softness of the background, and the arch of the back goes with the flower head.

    Unfortunately after the initial impression, the brown stalk on the right started to intrude because it breaks up the high-key nature of the image and splits the frame in two - have you tried cloning it out? Then my attention got drawn to the dark area on the left.
    So I cloned out the brown stalk and cropped the dark area - I hope you don't mind me posting a quick and crude edit.
