Hopefully you're not fed up with my experiments yet. Taken on the afternoon game drive in South Luangwa N.P., Zambia. I liked the way the warm light was hitting the eye.

Yes it looks interesting to me. My only slight reservation is the shiny or brighter area above the eye, I wonder if the luminosity was lowered there may be a little more detail.

Rachel the texture on this is very good looks like a mixture of mud and the true Elephant hide, just that tint eye adding life.Do like this sort of shot.

Beautiful image imo. Really like how you have turned a relatively mundane oppurtunity into a keeper. Love the overall impact and detail

Hi Rachel, I would look at some more darker tonal range to add some more depth, creating a larger tonal range will help here as I feel from the mid tones to the darker shadow areas the image is lacking. Also many be cropping through the centre of the trunk adds more logic to the framing? I would also have thought about having a greater depth DoF here, say f/11.

Thanks Basil, Haseeb and Steve, Steve - I'll take a look at the darker tones. Yes, I was surprised I shot this at 5.6 and normally would stop down more for this kind of image.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Hi Rachel well composed detail image .
    I like this a lot !!!
Loads of details and lovely warm colors , i agree a bit more tone / density would not hurt this image .

Late to this one, Rachel. I love the light hitting the eye and the overall textures.
I agree with Steve, my first thought is it needs to be 1 to 2 thirds darker overall for impact?
