I might not have the big five in the nature reserve close to my house, but in early morning light, one can at least come away with some decent shots of everything else. I captured this young Red Hartebeest close to the road, and he seemed like he was a having a munch of breakfast.

Hi Stu - Thanks for participating in this month's theme. You really do get gorgeous morning light at your local reserve and this is no exception. It's nice to see a close up of a Hartebeest. They are another antelope that is often skittish and running off. Nice detail and the munching grass adds for me. I might back off on the sharpening on the neck slightly but overall this works.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Lovely colours and I like the whiskers on his chin. As Rachel mentioned the light really portrays the antelope very well indeed. You early morning trips are well rewarded.

Hi Stu -- Lovely close up of this antelope , and lovely morning light . details look good except that the neck appears a bit oversharpened. I might have provided more space at the bottom and cropping of the top slightly . Nice image overall .

    TFS !

Hi Stu, I think a hint more head turn towards you so the other eye was more visible would have been better. Good detail and I like the fact the head is not affected by the horizon running through.
