At first glance I think many people from Europe would have thought this was a grey squirrel which is also from North America, but this is an American red squirrel in America. I was walking though woodland waiting for the landscape photographers to finish landscaping (it doesn't take me so long - I am not so good as they are!) I spotted this little guy munching on a pine cone and he obliged whilst I took a few images of him.
Hi Jon,spent some time looking for ear tufts not a big fan of the bg but the Squirrel itself looks spot on!love that big black shiny eye and nice texture and sharp detail on the fur.
Hi Jon .... just a quick tip or better said thought ..... i would back off on the sharpening
Split the final sharpening layer into two layers ....set one to darken the other to lighten blend mode , reduce the opacity of the lighten layer to say 66 % and see how it looks .
Cheers Andreas
Hi Jon, still think our 'reds' are the best and certainly a lot more attractive.
Interesting how quick the DoF tails off, you must have been quite close to the subject, what does the EXIF say? Sharpness/clarity/Detail all looks good to me, love the eye as that's the focal point. Personally I might shave some off the top, leaving say half an inch above the green 'pine' (?) on the RH trim.
Hi Jon, love the angled pose and feeding behaviour. I really like how the tail is curled over/around his back. I didnt realise they had sharp little claws. This is coming from my avian side - if you had moved more to your left, would you not have had a cleaner BG, and still achieved a good angle on the little guy.
Hi Jon - Very cute eating pose and nice detail. Colors look good too. Agree with the suggestions on the sharpening and taking a little off the top. Nice one.
Hi Jon -- lovely moment of the cute character . I liked the details and sharpness ( hovering close to being oversharpened ) , also i agree with the crop suggestion . Enjoyed viewing this .
