Didn't even notice my 1000th post so here's my 1001st. This is a photo that I've been holding on to for a special post; 1001 seems like a good enough reason. It's a photo of two Northern Harriers battling over a fish this past winter. It was tough getting enough DOF and shutter speed to pull this off, and I had to use ISO 1250. But I was very pleased with the result. I particularly like the way the bird on the snow is standing her ground in spite of the aerial assault from the other hawk.
Canon 1D Mark III, 700mm, f/8, 1/1250, ISO 1250, manual exposure, no flash, tripod
Congratulations on the milestone, Doug! I remember this series and this is certainly a worthy 1001st post. :) Great interaction and poses, very dramatic looking image!

Awesome image Doug and congratulations on your 1001 post . A real milestone for sure and definitely this image is a winner. Excellent timing and the action is over the top !! Love it.
Incredible capture, you did great with DOF and stopping the moment, the one on the snow looks as he was just shot with a bullet. Agree on the need of a frame to the picture.
