Default Scenes from an Etosha waterhole

    Attached Images Attached Images

On this specific morning there were eventually up to 70 elephants at the Okaukuejo camp waterhole simultaneously, joined by lots of springbok, zebra, gemsbok and the odd giraffe.
    A joy to witness!

Hi Morkel - What a great Etosha scene though I think it is a bit hard to really appreciate at this size. Nice clouds too. I do see a slight magenta cast in the clouds.

    TFS,
    Rachel

A great Etosha waterhole scape here Morkel, with all elements coming together well.

And like all scapes to be best viewed on a super large monitor or printed 1M wide, the 400kb limit here I'm sure does not do this justice. I'm seeing the magenta cast also, and intially thought of a early pink hue, but shadows indicate closer to midday?

    TFS

Written Morkel all over the image !! Loved the way the Elephants are scattered all around and those antelopes and other herbivores providing a nice touch to the whole scene . The sky looks lovely and yes i too see some magenta in it . Lovely scene !

    TFS !

Thanks for the kind words, folks.
Upon closer inspection I agree - there is actually too much magenta all over the image, a colour balance issue.
    How's this slightly corrected version?

Hi Morkel , staying at Okaukuejo can be great at times and you got lucky to witness this scene .
Lots to look at in this frame and i really like the numerous animals in one frame . Good land/ sky ratio which i really like .
Overall a bit dark for my taste , might be just me . Color issue almost solved within your RP

    Nice one , TFS Andreas

    Hello Morkel,

This is one magic scene, I so enjoyed looking at this big herd of ellies peppered all over the vast landscape, I see some bokkies and zebra too:)

Love the tranquility you captured here. Not sure how to comment on the sky - I somehow expected more vivid colours (as in "sunset") but soon realised the frame was captured in the early hours of the morning.

I think I might have seen sky this colour before somewhere? BTW, I did a couple of searches on the Internet and found some interesting articles explaining the various colours of the sky...always something to learn!

This is very well framed. I tend to agree with Andreas though, a tad dark, easy fix if you like.

I am always impressed with your capability to see beauty in Nature and capture it, Morkel. This was such a pleasure to view , thank you so much for sharing

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Wow that is really interesting, I especially like the repost the gazelles stand out much more clearly. It takes a little while to assimilate the scene, the elephants are obviously big yet they look quite small in the image. I find it is one of those images that demands a second and then a third look to make sure I have really seen all it has to offer.

Hey Morkel this is truly beautiful. Please forgive my late question......just wanted to ask is the green in the water and in the little bit of foreground grass as it looked to the eye?

What an impressive picture, Morkel. It is one of those times that a stills picture has a really feeling of things in motion with animals coming into, out of and moving around the frame. Well seen and well captured.
