    Default Lioness with Giraffe Kill

A lioness at Ruaha NP with a big buffet spread for breakfast. As off roading is not allowed in Ruaha, we managed a few quick shots with a very short detour to see this.\

Hi Sanjeev -- A nice moment to witness and capture on the camera , must have been really exciting . I find the scene a bit dark and for me Giraffe's Hump is dominating over the lioness but not a deal breaker .

Hi Sanjeev, agree with Haseeb, it looks quick 'Contrasty' in the overall look & feel creating not much tonal range so you have not got the depth. At 1/250 how sharp too? If you shoot this low you really need to be very well supported when HH and your body well braced and be thinking when to shoot.

Hi Sanjeev - A scene worth a short detour. The pano comp works well. I too think the scene once again looks a bit dark and contrasty. Perhaps it is a monitor issue. When was the last time you calibrated?

Thanks all, i guess you are right Rachel. I have not calibrated it since I moved to my new home a couple months ago. Will check it asap.

    Hello Sanjeev,

Wonderful scene you have witnessed here, you were so lucky...

I would have been ecstatic about this frame if it wasn't for the low SS - IMHO it caused a huge drop in IQ. This is not sharp enough and the colours don't seem right to me either. I like the composition though:)

Since you might have been worried about noise, going down on F-stop would have given you a little more SS?

Sadly, this does not work for me. You did have choices, dear Sanjeev. Even 1/500s would have made a difference. I guess not everyone will agree with me, but I do find this works: never allow your SS to drop below the size of your lens.

I do not think there's anything wrong with your gear. Try experiment more, like you did in the past. This is a scene you won't be seeing again in a long time, I would have tried to shoot at various camera settings if unsure.

Sorry about my comments, I mean what I said and have best intentions at heart.

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Always interesting to see them go to work on a prey this large. Bet you the smell was nice too ;)
I agree on the comments made above. Worth the 'detour' for sure.
