    Default Pangolin Pano

Another image of a pangolin taken on my recent trip. This one at Tswalu. My ranger, Lance, and I waited patiently for almost an hour for this one to walk out from the bush it was under when we first got there. As a result the light wasn't great. We were ultimately rewarded with a full view and I really like that you can see the whole body. I decided to crop to 16x9. You can see 2 holes punched in the scales just behind the body which researchers do shortly after birth so they can fit the pangolin with a transmitter later. Apparently, this one never had the transmitter but has the holes in case.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

HI Rachel, this one of the cleanest shots of the Pangolin in full view! Nice unobstructed view and shooting angle. Pano works well and techs look good !! TFS.

Hi Rachel quite wonderful to get such a clean image in all that brush your patience well rewarded. Rache the image just makes me smile which is wonderful in it's self. I like your colour pallette pov framing... there is little to change in this one for me. Also thanks for the note about the holes, they are quite noticable and I did wonder why,for me they don't harm the image but they did make me curious.

    Lovely work Rachel

    take care

    Dearest Rachel,

I am so jealous of your Pangolin sightings and images!

This is just lovely, superb composition and the colours are spot-on. Wonderful pose and HA from the subject, love the POV - I guess you had to lie down for this one, but well worth it!

Both you and Lance were rewarded for your patience and I am so pleased you had this amazing experience. I wish I was there too:)
Thank you so much for sharing, such a pleasure to view a well processed image of an elusive species like the Pangolin - I certainly hope to see more

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Rachel you got really lucky with this unique species !°!!!
Would love to see one myself .
The frame works well as presented , good use of the pano format .Lovely detail and very nice color rendition .
I might try to give the scales a bit more form / contour .... as a personal pref from my side .

Nice work and i hope to see more of this fella .

Hi Rachel -- Too see a Pangolin out there in the wild is something special and then on top of that you get to photograph them in the open is an icing on the cake . Enjoyed viewing this image and you have done really well to produce a good image inspite of the settings around the subject .

    TFS !

Great to see something different on here - not an animal I'm familiar with. Interesting about the holes, nicely presented

Hi Rachel, 'perhaps' your best so far in illustrating what a Pangolin looks like, love the side on elevation and the pano frame just lends itself to this very well. The colours look rich and punchy which has helped. One the move, - I would have upped that SS, even on this guy and it would not have had any issues on the IQ. Any frames further on where the stick is more over the tail, rather than the leg, as I assume you would have 'rattle' off a few frames here?

    Well done.

    TFS

Thanks Marc, Haseeb, Mike and Steve. Steve - unfortunately, the pangolin started to turn to its left to go back under the brush so this was the best image with it most parallel.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

A fine shot Rachel, I like the scales, the various hues have come out nicely. Interesting to read about the two drill holes.

Great to see the full length body, light is still fine for me here.
Interesting about the research and the holes in the scales!
