    Default Calling Yellow-Head

Last week the Yellow-headed Blackbirds were in their prime at Washoe Lake near Reno--calling from the grasses, the fence poles and moving fast from spot to spot covering their territory. I loved watching them and was photographically challenged by distance and tall waving grasses. This is one of the the best from the hundreds of shots!

    Hi Katie,
I like your composition and exposure. You have great details and colors on your bird. The only thing that I would suggest, is to crop 1/4 from the top...good show...

    Hello Katie,
I really like your shot but without data like ISO and Lens size its hard to critique. Have you tried just cropping this shot to include only the bird and post? Jim

Thanks, Jim, I added the info. I pondered over the crop and decided against making it even smaller as its a pretty big crop as it is...I like the vertical perspective but I think I may have gone overboard.

Hi Katie, it does look like to me you may have gone overboard on the cropping. That said, I did see good-looking photos with a lot of seemingly empty space, too. As is, the bird looks clear and sharp. Not bad at all!

I like the selected crop !!! looks elegant and much rather have it like that than a big crop If anything might start the image just at the white in the stake !!! Excellent Katie !!!

Hi Katie, I like the crop but agree with Al that I might start the image at the white. The image is lovely and the bird looks alomost like a dancer - well done!
