This Kookaburra sat in my front yard through a couple of hours of heavy rain, completely exposed. Comedy value vs artificial perch.

Colin, I don't know if I should laugh or feel sorry for this bird… maybe a little of both.
Nice sharp details and you nailed the emotion of the shot.

Hi Colin, you certainly captured how miserable this fellow is - I would be too. You have captured excellent detail on that very wet plumage. As the perch is not ideal, I would maybe come up from the bottom a little.

Colin when I have commented on your work in the past it's often about the very bright conditions that you have to deal with, this shows just the opposite, not to bothered about the perch but that soaked bird says it all,it's an awful wet dull morning here in the UK this shot of yours as certainly brightened my day .

Because of the quirkiness of the image I'm OK with the perch in this case. I actually would have been fine had you pointed your lens lower to include more of it and place the subject higher in the frame. I love the wet look look, and as William points out - we can almost imagine it enjoying the rain!

Pretty darn miserable is right! Great work and I don't mind the perch in this instance. Well done
