Some birds are so common that when I see them I seldom raise the camera. But when this ubiquitous House Sparrow perched on a Pin Oak twig outside my back door, I couldn't resist a few shots.

Pleased you went to the trouble Bill, you have finished with a very nice image ,everything blends well together and the bird looks nice and sharp with plenty of detail and good that you got an acorn in the frame.
Wish these where common around me we have had a very sharp decline in these lovely little birds if it carries on they will be rarities, put my nest boxes up and plenty of food so lets hope.

I often think one of the hardest shots to achieve is a pleasing result of the most common birds. This one has hit the nail on the head, lovely light, great perch, perfect HA, nice work Bill.

Mike took the words out of my mouth. Very nice. Agree that a slight head turn towards us would have been ideal.

What a beautiful image of this common bird, Bill. Great light, perch and BG. I agree, Mike summed it up perfectly.

I would not have resisted that scene either! That acorn is the icing on the cake - very cool. A slightly better HA would have been excellent. I seem to detect a faint and tall vertical clone mark halfway between the bill and the edge of the frame. Quite a beautiful autumn setting.

Bill, you made this common bird look like a star, great perch, BG and exposure, nice job.

Hi Bill, was this shot in a studio. You have nailed everything in this shot. Love the light, the colours all compliment each other, and perfect DOF throughout the image. Well captured.

Thanks again everyone. And thank you Daniel for your eagle eyes. I missed that clone mark, and will fix it in the master file.
