A large, male Bullfrog in wetland habitat on Horseshoe Lake near Parry Sound, Ontario. I used my Laowa 15mm macro lens to create this wide angle view of the frog within it's habitat. This image is pretty much straight out of the camera with not much more than a contrast adjustment and a slight tweak to the Vibrance.

This image as with all other frog-scape type photos I create was done so hand-held from my canoe. I typically sit in the bottom of the canoe and lean out over the gunwale to hold the camera at the water's surface. While creating this image my left hand developed pins and needles which I shook off and continued shooting with no further issues...later that evening intense pain and numbness developed in my left arm as well as significant muscle weakness...as it turned out I had injured my brachial plexus (network of nerves in the armpit) as my armpit rested on the gunwale...after more than two months the numbness and pain has pretty much subsided although I am still waiting to see a neurologist for a full assessment.

    Look forward to comments.

Hi Andrew, I really enjoy these 'Frogscapes' and it proves you don't need exotic animals to create stunning images.

Kudos on the techs - 1/30SS outstanding. These isn't anything I would want to change, just sit back and enjoy, this would be great as a 'backlit' bill board, like you see in airports.

Trust the arm will be improving for the New Year, all the very best on that score, but I do think you have more images to share here in the Wildlife Forum.

Hi Andrew - Glad to hear your arm is on the mend and hope it hasn't slowed you up too much. As with all your frogscapes, this is excellent. I particularly like that we can see the front legs underwater here. It may be an optical illusion but does it need the slightest bit of ccw rotation?

    Rachel

Andrew,i've seen some of these amazing works before. I keep amphibia, they are very special to me. Your shot,I just find it beyond incredible that you can make images like this I adore the view of his feet under water, your shutter speed has me amazed for hand held from your canoe. I also like your framing to get just the edge of the pond in frame,it sort of draws a parallel with a large scale horizon, signifying his world to my eyes...sort of acting as an analogy/metaphor for that. He's just wonderful so much detail and those utterly beautiful eyes.
It's an incredible concept andrew one I adore not only as it's a being that I have a special fondness of,but also because it is such a simple subject that could b e found almost by anyone to photograph
Stunning mate just stunning, from concept to execution !!

    take care

PS Ahh kiddo I so hope your arm mends properly and they get to the bottom of it for you

Super shot Andrew, I love these wide angle shots. Those big eyes really draw attention but I also like the clearly visible legs and feet.

Love the perspective here... Surprised the frog allowed you to get so close! Well done!
