    Reed Cormorant, (Microcarbo africanus)
    Lake - Wilderness - ZA

    HH - D300 + Nikon AF-S f4
    1/800th sec - f4 - ISO 400

    I like your composition in this one Bill. Lighting works for the dark feathers and the bright clear eye stands out.Well done.

    Like everything about this except the way the BG goes from that great green to white.
    Very nice, soft light and great preening pose.
    Too bad you didn't/couldn't get higher to move the cormorant into a solid green BG.

    Hi Gail, thanks for your comments and I see and appreciate your views on the "white" area

    I did cloned the bg up to remove the white area but in the end it seemed out of place with the soft white light on the head and back edges of the bird ... I started going around in circles with the cloning colours, so in the end I reverted to the original

    Bill BG bit covered,it's often difficult to get the head angle right with preening birds like this but must say this looks right,nice muted colours and good detail on the bird.

    Nice feather details and pose in this very clean image. I wish the white wasn't at the top, but what can ya do, although this one looks close enough that moving your body around might have changed the view. Nice work
