Another image from my hide at the weekend. I like how this one showed his raised crest.

I too like the raised crest, and the nice feather details. A more profiled HA would have been better IMO but this still works nicely. Sweet BG and lichen encrusted perch too. Well done William

    Love the perch.
What colorful birds these are. I have never seen these birds in real life so take this next comment with a grain of salt.
Does the image have a blue/purple cast? I ask this because on my monitor the legs look purple/bluish?
For my taste I would like a slightly looser crop but still nice as presented.

Hi Will I did look earlier and thought it did look a bit purple but am not the best on colour but do agree with Gail,it looks like a male bird which are usually more colourful but even your repost still looks a bit on the purple side.Bird itself looks nice and sharp with a good pose ,and a nice lichen covered perch to set it off.

Hi Will nice shot but my first reaction was colour temp. It looks a bit blue/cold, if it was cropped I would suggest reducing the crop a little also. Maybe check the sharpening if you used DPP did you disengage the USM?

Hi Will, love the inquisitive pose, and I do like the colours and detail on this fellow. Good DOF on the bird. Lovely linchen covered perch too.

You mentioned this from a hide. Is this a set up?

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

Hi Jon, with regards to the crop, the perch split into a fork and never looked good so I cropped it out. I've never used DPP, maybe I should get around to it someday, I use Photoshop CC from start to finish.

Hi Stu, I erected a small hide, on the side of a local loch some time ago. It is well hidden and difficult to get to, hopefully that will keep the general public away. Recently it has been quiet on the loch, so I decided to put out several feeders on a small tree, over hanging the loch near to the hide. All the perches are natural, as are the perches on the loch, where a KF sometimes shows up. My main aim was the Kingfisher so I don't want to move the hide, but since I put the feeders up I have been bombarded with woodland birds, mainly tits, but nothing unusual so far. Hopefully as the winter draws in different birds will be attracted to the feeders. This is the first time I have tried this, so I am learning as I am going along

    Will
