These birds are extremely common in New York. Seem to be everywhere. But getting one to pose up for a shot is never easy. There is a spot in a field close to my house that has some tall sticks that are higher than the rest of the grasses. I waited there and was lucky enough to have this one come and perch there for me. From a couple weeks ago at Fort Wadsworth in Staten Island, New York. I was after that smooth grass background but not sure if it is too plain of a background? Interested in hearing others thoughts. This guy actually landed on a closer stick than I was expecting and so in post I added a bit of canvas above and to the right to give it a little more room. Also interested if others think I should add a little more canvas?
Canon 7dii and Canon 500 f4 ii + 1.4x iii. F8, SS 1/2000, ISO 640.
Converted in DPP 4. Auto White Balance. In PS I cloned out a stick on the left side. Added canvas, sharpened and applied noise reduction to background. Eye work.
IQ and light are excellent.Good DOF.
The BG is nice. Not WOW but nice!!
I would definitely add a bit more canvas (say 2% ) on the bottom if you can,
Gail
Nice detailed frame of this little guy. The green BG really showcases him well and I like the perky pose. Another vote for more room on the bottom and even a little on the left. You light angles are looking good resulting in nice sharp and well lit subjects.
Well done
