One of the better wolf photography opportunities I've had on tour. This is the now defunct Hayden Pack feeding on a bison carcass near Norris Junction. Their daughter is now the alpha female of the Canyon Pack

Hi Dale - Those are some healthy looking wolves with full winter coats. Nice action and wintery feel to this scene. Interesting about the pack dynamics too.

    Hi Dale,

very nice action image. I would like to have the tale of the LHS wolf sharp, but this is me.

A fine shot indeed, I am sure it was not easy to be in the right place and at the right time, your patience was well rewarded. The image looks pretty sharp, I wonder if 1/1000 sec would have produced even better results?

Love the interaction here Dale. Personally I feel a bit more below would be better, just moving the whole crop down, but there may have been distracting elements preventing this?? Is it a bit of rib or bone by the RH leg of the RH wolf, if so I might remove it so the leg is free, just my take.

Really enjoying these images and goes to show you can still create wonderful images with the MKII, something I grew up with when migrating to Digital.

HI Dale -- Steve has mentioned what i was abt to say , that you are still producing lovely images with the MK II , well done on that and the Wolf images are always a treat to watch . I loved the moment here and loved the exposure . I too would prefer more space at the bottom then the top .

    TFS !

    Hi Everyone,

This is an old image... 9 years ago.. I haven't had a mkII for many years. I was very hesitant at that time to go much above ISO 400 with that camera (or any at that time). I came from 20 years of shooting slide film.. With slide film ISO 50/64/100 was the norm pushed to 200 was blazing fast. So shooting at ISO 400 was a treat... Remember image processing software wasn't nearly as good as it is today.. I stopped down a bit for DOF. That slowed my SS a bit. The center of interest is the eyes, teeth, heads of the fighting wolves and that was rendered very sharp so for me a successful image.
