    Hi everybody,

Been "stuck" in Botswana for 3 weeks in the middle of nowhere, were very fruitful and a bliss for the soul

I came across a bunch of lionesses early morning playing for quite a while "run & catch" or so. This is one of the series.

LR usual, PS Levels, Midtones and that's about it what I have done. Oh and a tiny crop from the right bottom up.

Hi Anette -- Great to have you back !

I really liked the moment , when the big cats play there is no better fun then simply observing their behaviour and you done very well in freezing the action . The techs look good but i wish you could have raised that iso to say 5000 but you have 3200 ss is not bad either . It must have been tough with focusing quickly with the 2x T.C. I am not a fan of that dry foliage creeping in from the LHS but it was there . All in all a fine image and hope to see more from your Botswana trip .

    TFS !

    Hi Haseeb,
thank you very much for your time to comment. It is actually not tough to focus with the 2x ext. III with this combination. It is very quick as you can see. The full series of this play and some others are all on the dot. I think when you are quick all works.
The branch I can remove that is not a big deal.
    Have a great day

    Ciao Anette

Hi Anette - Great to see you posting again. I too really feel for you "stuck" in Bots. We should all be so lucky. Nice action. I especially like the tail up. Techs look good to me. You certainly had enough ss.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Super shot great colours and exposure. I keep looking at the right rear leg on the lioness on the left, there appears to be a large swelling, possibly an abscess or maybe a cyst.

Hi Anette, I thought you went with Carole D????

Good to see a decent SS and nice timing. I feel if you had been a bit more to your left it may have helped exclude the bush creeping in on the RHS and the road track in the BKG??? Was this all AF points highlighted Anette?

I assume this was a Public concession rather than a Private one???

Haseeb, the 2x MKIII with the new lens works fine, you just need to be careful at times. The 1DX MKII is such a joy when coupled with the 2x because of the AF system.

Jon, the lump could be TB, something lions suffer from and which Rachel & I saw at close quarters in SA.

    TFS
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

yes I was with Carole, was so much fun out there. ( just saw I wrote I on my thread, lolol sorry ) We had a great time with many amazing sightings.

A bit more to the left... I was driving and placed us on the spots we had to be for the greater fun. This was the 2nd "catch me" game from the lionesses , they are 5 in total. The tracks I don't mind much for that.

The Af "brick" was just one single one and sits just a tad left to the front leg of the LHS lioness.

No private concession, all National Parks are public as far I know! 3 weeks in a private concession am not Rockefeller, sadly.

Thank you very much for your time to comment.

    have a great day

    Ciao Anette

    Haseeb, I enjoyed the combo 1DX & 2x ext. III & 70-200mm very much.

Steve, I actually prefer it very much to drive myself then I am faster on the spots where I want to be.

Hi Anette, I think I would have expanded the AF points, a lot more under my belt now and have totally changes shooting, settings etc. Just love the MKII's.

Currently printing some stuff to get out, even at ISO12,800 is all being accepted!!!! Awesome.

'Rockefeller' - I' sure we bought a jeep at $500 per day Private in June!!!!

    Ciao to Arc.

Steve, with the MKII I only can say: boys and toys

Mine are also all accepted with even 12.800++

Have a great evening, greetings to Alison

    Ciao Anette

PS from the 500 per day for a jeep, I take 450 off and spend 3 month down there . My way, breathing nature with all it's smells and sounds

Great capture Anette...love the action and the wider view that allows us to see the out of focus trees in the background!

Annette this is such a stunning moment caught,I'm all but at a loss as to what to say. Naturally I love it and am in awe of the skills, but what more. I actually like the bush on the left,to me it conveys an ambush point the lass used to hijack her mate. Framing is wonderful, love one tail up one down,I find the dust just a bit bright, but that may well be how I view,.
Finally as I'm starting to thaw now after a lovely day grafting I probably could cope with being stuck somewhere warm right now, three weeks might be too much ,but hey I'd try and make the best of it.

Thanks for sharing mate a serious joy to view

    take care

    Stu

    Hi Stu,

thank you very much for your time. It was beautiful "very" hot out there, no luxury at all, water came from a water pump somewhere in the bush, elephants came by at night including hyenas something not to miss
I did nothing at the dust at the lionesses at all. You see the image actually as it was when there. Not much fiddling done.
Right you are with the branch, who cares about that

    Thank you very much again

    Have a fantastic week

    Ciao Anette
