Good work with a difficult environment; rather grumpy looking fellow!

Very very nice, Rachel! The horizon is unfortunate but it doesn't detract much from the picture for me. I think the body angle and the head angle works really well here.

Hi Rachel, lovely low perspective, and knowing these birds well, I'm amazed he posed for you so nicely, being a bit skittish now and then. Good DOF for F/5.6, and you have brought out the finer detail on the Hornbill nicely. Raising your camera ever so slightly would have eliminated most of the OOF FG.

I saw a lot of these guys on my recent trip to kruger, but didnt capture any shot as good as this.

not a fan of the OOF strip in the fg Rachel

The bird is fine, but no legs and the fg worsens that fact

techs are fine, (as always), but fg and indeed the bg and the OOF areas unbalance the image, for me

Hi Rachel, I know this location , no sign of the warthogs though?

Nice DoF, good detail and sharpness on the subject with a cool bokeh backdrop, nice one, although I would blend the highlight strip so you have continuity. Getting down & low is the way to go, like it.

Thanks Bill and Steve. Steve - only one warthog this year but a few bushbucks and nyalas.
