    Default Roan

I thought I would add another species of antelope that isn't often posted. As with many of the others these were usually pretty skittish, only standing still if they were grazing/eating as this one was or were at a distance. Unfortunately, it never stood completely upright while we watched.

Love roan and sable.. Some of the prettiest antelope in Africa! A fine image here Rachel.. Might clone out some of the OOF grasses over the roans neck but fine as is

Rachel did look at the grasses mentioned above ,I do think the texture and detail of the coat on this Antelope looks lovely, beautiful animal that you have photographed very well.

Hi Rachel, Roans are always a nice antelope to photograph with a lot of character.

Personally I feel you could have come out a bit more to add some 'breathing space' all round, it's a wee bit tight for me. Also I would have waited for him to raise his head, a better portrait and also would have avoided the grasses on the neck. Probably me, but lifting the Blacks a hint, likewise the Shadows, Contrast & any Clarity may help the finer detail come through. The depth of yellow is quite dominant, but again, just my take, as the image for me has a feel or appearance of just being a bit 'heavy' overall, if you know what I mean, Processing with a lighter touch???

I think you know the direction.

Beautiful colours I wonder though are they a just little saturated in the roan, perhaps a tiny bit less contrast?

Hi Rachel -- Lovely looking antelope . I too find it a bit tight all around and since i am not familiar with the colours of the subject so i can't give my thoughts on it but on the first look i thought it is a bit over saturated .

    TFS !

Thanks everyone. I too would have preferred a raised head but it was not to be. Invariably they turned as they raised it and walked away. I'll take a look at the suggestions, particularly the contrast and saturation.

    Happy Halloween,
    Rachel

    Hi Rachel,

details as usual and I do not expect it different from you. I did not read all comments above. For me, you squeezed the Sable a tad into the frame. I would like to see more space around it. As you know me with space, just love to give the animals their freedom

    Have a great day

    Ciao Anette
