Captured this pair this past Tuesday on Lighthouse Pond in Cape May. It was a patchy cloud situation, but I liked the quality of the light. The hen gave us an extended wing flap, and this was the last frame in a burst of 9. C&C welcome.

    D4S, Nikon 500mm + 1.4 TC, 1/2500s, f 7.1, ISO 1000, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

Removed a distracting out of focus duck from BG in cs6.

Hi Geoffrey - Nice timing on the wing flap and good exp. The cloning looks a little sloppy (assuming it was just above the female's wings). I wish there was more separation between the hen and drake or that the drake was not in the frame.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Great wingflap. (How'd I miss that one?) I don't mind the placement of the drake, although in a perfect world maybe his pose could have been a bit better. If this isn't already a large crop, you might consider taking a bit off bottom and right.

Hi Geoffrey, agree with Rachel re separation but that apart it all looks very good to me,the one with the raised wing shows lots of detail and of course it's pose all help to make a good image.

Cool wing flap but just too busy for me with the second bird.
