Hi James. I really like the colors here. It seems that there is a lot of noise, especially in the BG. I also see several white specks in the BG. I have used Noise Ninja (a PS plugin filter) on the image in the repost, masking the bird to preserve the detail in the feathers. This seems to have helped. At ISO200, their shouldn't be so much noise. The image lacks a bit of sharpness also. Is this an extreme crop? This would explain the noise and the lack of sharpness.

    Hi James,
I like your composition, but it does display way too much noise; especially for a D2x??? The repost is much better...:)

Dan, Thanks for the repost. I definitely need the Noise Ninja. Jim

Hi James I like what Dan did with the re post Good work !!!

Agree there should not be hardly any noise at 200, also the exposure looks about right. I like the pose and perch, do think mixed light is a problem. Best getting the bird all sun/shade. I like the bg since they sort of frame the little bird, might blurred them just a bit.

Would try practicing photographing a target to see the lowest shutter speed you can manage. I think there is some motion blur on this one.
With practice you should be able to make razor sharp images at this shutter speed.
