    Default Dark-eyed Junco

Hi Everyone, Here's a Dark-eyed Junco with some autumn colors in the background, was kinda hard to get this background with mostly evergreens and sand color cliffs in my area. SS is a bit low on this was shooting something on the branch in the background when he popped into the frame which was in the shade. Edited in LR, standard editing, cropped for comp, lowered highlights, increased shadows, bit of sharping then over to PS for color correction like last post done with numeric values (colorblindness issue).
Back to LR resized outputted with standard sharpening. As always comment are always welcome, Thanks for looking.

Brian I do like the muted BG and the perch pity about the oof bit on the rock ,the bird itself looks fantastic pin sharp with lots of natural feather detail, and a nice relaxed pose, very nice all round.

Hi Keith, thanks for the comments, as for the rock I think they call it Tufa, sticks out like a sore thumb but was hoping it was not too distracting from the bird, wish I could remove it but it's like a 2 ton boulder, would need to pull out a jackhammer :)

I like the way the grey of the rock compliments the bird's coloring and the background provides a perfect contrast (with that orange also returning in the rock). The rock is a bit dominant, I might have cropped off the bottom a bit. But, all in all, it's a stunning shot.

Like the detail in the feathers and the orange backdrop suits the subject.
The oof rock is ok with me, I don't find it too distracting.
    Thanks for posting.

I tried a version cropping up from the bottom and cloning some of the rock that was cropped out back into the left corner. It could be done a lot better but this just shows an alternative. It makes it a bit tight but beats getting the jackhammer out. Nice image Brian.

Well done Brian. I must say I like the repost by Jim. Fantastic detail you have on the bird and I love the HA and pose. BG colours go well with the colours on the bird and I like the touch of green.

Brian the bit in the front is what it is I don't really think you needed to change the image because of it,repost looks good though.

I like the cropped repost more than the original. I might remove the OOF green vegetation on the left upper but it isn't all that distracting. Maybe a little shadow push around the eye and dark feathers in front of the eye. Otherwise a very nice image of this little guy.

Excellent image. Beautiful colors. Very nice composition.
However if mine I will go for vertical.

Hi Brain, seems all the colour issues have gone and the PP looks really good, glad it's all worked out.

If it were me, then I might open up the shadow/contrast (the dark area) around the eye to bring more detail back in. If you are using LR try keep away from Contrast in the RAW stage, or if you have to, then a minimum amount.

You are most welcome, looks like the 'Colour blindness' is a thing of the past now, so relax, enjoy your shooting and most of all, have fun.

If you need more help, you know where I am, that's if I can help.
