I loved the mood the scene was creating so I opted to leave the TC in the bag and go for some verticals with egret smaller in the frame and the extra room above. The "perch" is a beaver lodge being reclaimed by nature. I usually get soaked crawling in the shallow water photographing shorebirds or waterfowl, but this hard rain got me just as dripping wet!

Excellent image in habitat. Superb feel of rain.
Though vertical looks very nice with rain,I would go for horizontal composition.

    Regards,
    Satish.

I love this image, it is very beautiful; excellent exposure, perfect setting and a delightful composition. No nitpicks from me.

I like the fall feel, setting and composition. A little bit of a head turn towards us would be nice but its fine as presented. Well done Daniel.

Good choice in leaving the converter off - going in closer would have taken away from the colours and the rain, and harmed the image.

Splendid! I love the way you position the egret in a larger frame filled with rich autumn colors, dark enough that the egret stands out beautifully. Great detail on the bird and the rain adds an evocative touch.
