    Default Loon feeding chick...

Here is a shot of a Common loon feeding its chick a small fish. I followed this family from my kayak for a few months. There were two chicks and both survived the summer.

    Handheld from kayak, Canon 1DX, Canon 300 f/2.8 IS II + 2xTCIII at f/8, 1/2000, ISO 1000

Intimate photo, nice low angle, perfect timing of the feeding. I'd prefer a little more room around them and a better body angle from the parent. Nice work, Geoff and great news of the chicks.

Ditto Lorant's critique. I love the intimate view of the behaviour!

What a moment you caught here. Love the colors and exposure. I could also see a little more room all around if you have it.

What an excellently timed shot and such detail!
I know loons sit low in the water but having it so tight to the left just looks a bit strange, and in that respect I echo Lorant's comments.

Nits already covered above, but I really like the behaviour in this shot, especially with the chick facing us - nice work.
