I took this Bald Eagle frame in Alaska a few years ago during a short stretch when the sun was shining. Never got around to processing it until today. I know this bird isn't totally black, but I think it still fits the theme nicely.

Just a fantastic image Doug. Man what do your other images from that trip look like if you waited so long to process this one!!! The pose, the details and image quality, the flared wings, look back pose and that great blue background are all top notch. One of the best eagle pics I have ever seen. As a bonus the faint clouds in the background make it even better. Such a pleasure to view.

Great pose, great background, great HA. My only small nit is the colour looks off in the dark feathers. I realize they can appear different in different light but in reality they are brown and in this type of light I'd expect more brown in the feathers.

Thanks Geoff! I may have pulled the darks down a bit too far. I've eased off on that in this repost. What do you think?

Before I read the comments my thought was that the feathers were too black.
The repost addresses this issue but I think you could still ease up on the blacks a bit more.
Love the sky and clouds and the perfect wing position. IQ topnotch as always.
    Very nice.

Absolutely first class Doug, I have only seen one from a distance but the repost does appear to have a little more detail in the blacks.

Excellent top side bank and details, sharp and well exposed, I might just warmen the image a tad

Really nice Eagle in flight. It is a great pose with good focus and detail. There are enough clouds to keep the sky from being boring. Eagles are always an exposure challenge.
