    I took this picture a year ago, basically practicing to see if I could actually photograph a dragonfly in flight. Most of the image is cropped out. The light was harsh mid-morning. Even had the photo been successful in technical respects, there is no context for the insect. That bothers me. But I did the best I knew how at the time. Hope to do better this summer.

    Canon 20D, 100-400@ 235

    Av evaluative, ISO 200, 1/3200, f/5

    No exp comp.

    Kent I have been trying one of this for years and don't have a single one to show !!! Difficult coming up with one large in frame

    The loss of detail has to do with the crop, can't bring it back !!! Image is sharp and well exposed I think the best chance for one is as they return over and over to the perch !!! Good luck !!!!!

    Great capture Kent. I also have been trying for one of these and have nothing to show for.

    i commend you for even trying!!! i thought purple martins were difficult and you are going after dragonflies!! well done. hope to see you get a full frame one soon!!
