    Default Amethyst Sunbird

Amethyst Sunbird, (Chalcomitra amethystina) - I think that it is an immature male, but not sure

Small bird - Western Cape - South Africa

maybe something a little different for this section, (tatty bg etc.,) - but I always enjoy seeing the natural environment around the subject

Bill, very unique bird, a little over sharpened IMO feathers look a bit crunchy.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Tim - I am new to the Forum - I am not sure where to put my images and as you have noticed I have posted a few to try to get some feedback

is it more appropriate that this image, (and others) be placed in "Eager to Learn"??

Here in the image with no sharpening

Bill, new image is much better IMO, you will probably get more feedback in the Avian forum since there are more moderators, but
I will do my best to help when you post in the ETL forum.

Good shot and if my experience with Sunbirds is anything to go by, not easy birds to nail well. Can't work out whether the beak is that long or if its tongue is out.

    I love sunbirds!
Very nice image and yes, the OP was too oversharpened. Love the tongue and the HA.
If you have the skills I would clone out the one green grass that intersects with the birds head.
I would also add a bit more canvas on the RHS if you have it ( if it is not too messy).
I wish the leaf was not covering the foot but certainly not an image killer!
