    Open season on these birds now and he was looking anxiously towards the sound of gunfire from an adjacent field. He was quite safe in the reserve area but he is missing his long tail feathers. Maybe he had a close encounter with lead shot earlier!

    Taken on a gloomy damp morning hence the high ISO.

    Canon 1D4. Canon 100-400 L Mk2

    1/1250 @ f 5.6 ISO 3200 + 1.67 EC

    ACR and PS6 Neat image NR

    Very nice David. It has a great 'Autumn' feel about it. I like the DOF, the greens and browns look good in the BG. Nice colours on the bird and good detail for 3200. Did you apply any NR on the bird.

    These birds are coming up to looking there best and you have caught it very nicely David,all things in the image blend nicely together and as Will says a nice autumnal feel,I like this.

    What a beautiful bird and you captured a nice pose, David. Wonderful overcast light and lovely BG. Sure a branch might have made a better perch, but any of us would have loved this opportunity.

    Thanks Keith. Thanks Will. I applied a bit of global NR using Nik Define 2 and did a final clean up of the BG with Neat Image on a layer.
