We finally got a bit of sun and warmth, and another chance to try to get some more Calliope Hummingbird images. Al did say I'd have fun with these guys. I'm quite close to this fellow as he goes through a set of pre-flight stretches, thus the crop isn't too severe even though we are looking at the smallest bird in NA. Perhaps it is too tight a crop?
The position is different, I wonder what you think. Also please comment on noise - do you see any, lots, little? All comments and suggestions, in fact, are much, much appreciated.

Hi Gail I like the pose, very unusual !!! Head angle is away from the plane but fine. The bird is looking at something and holds my attention. Cropping wise looks fine, I like the room for him to spring !!!
Have you consider using a 2X? At times you can also use a 300 with the 1.4X and get really close All depends on the set up. Set up lots of food for them !!! Big Congrats on this one !!!
Hi Gail, I really love this image - such a sweet little bird! I love the colours and the pose but don't really feel qualified to comment on noise. I especially like the lack of other distractions in the picture - minimal is good!!
Thanks to all for the comments. They are very helpful and much appreciated. What is interesting to me is that I can't decide for myself if I really like this image or not. Guess that just shows that we aren't always the best judge of our own photos.
i think doug brown said it best when he said that we are our own worst critics!!! i think it is well done myself. dont see a lot of noise if any. bird looks fantastic! great job!
