    I captured this image at Lake Morton in Lakeland, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D7000
    Nikon 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6 VRII AF-S ED shot at 260mm (390mm FFE)
    1/1000 F/8 Matrix Metering +1/3 EV ISO 800 AWB, camera supported by a monopod
    Post processed in Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC, Iris enhancement, burning areas of the feathers for even exposure
    Cropped for composition and presentation

    Details look great to me and the red of the beak is nicely controlled and not even approaching being over saturated. Unfortunately most of the bird is not in focus and is distracting. Looks like you were really close so I am not sure that going to say f11 would have helped too much. Perhaps it would have been better to shoot from farther back and f11 to get more of the bird in sharp focus. I would also prefer less of the bird on the left and some more room on the right.

    I love the comp as is, and good control of the blacks with nice detail. The face and eye look great, and I like the sharp parts of the body. Bummer the neck is out of dof range, perhaps next time it will rest it's neck more on this side of the back.
