    Default Inca Tern

Last year I posted a frame of this iconic Peruvian bird, taken on a fishing pier on a dark, foggy morning in Lima. Given this month's theme I thought I would process another frame from that series.

Wow. Great shot Bill. I really like the black bird and the black BG with the contrasting bright colors. What did you do in pp to get the black BG?

Thanks John. I did nothing to the bg in pp. The bird was perched on the edge of a building recess, so it was dark behind him, and dim light on him.

Such a great bird and I love the background. Didn't realize how common these birds were around Lima until I went there and saw what seemed like millions of them. In a perfect world I would have preferred a the birds head to be more parallel to the back of the camera. Also seems to be a little bit of noise on the bird but still very nice for ISO 3200. My Canon 7d2 could not perform nearly that well at such a high ISO. Or at least I can't make it perform that well.

Beautiful portrait of this stunning looking bird, Bill. Like the dark feathers against the black BG. Great light quality created by the overcast.

    I really really like this!
Great separation of the blacks on the tern and the BG.
    Exposure is spot on.
Love the white mustache peeking out from the far side,
    Gail
