I obviously won't disclose where this was taken but it was a privilege to spend some time with this one.

Hi Rachel -- A nice head-on view of the Rhino , those ears makes it look alert and listening . Nice side lighting with golden hues and good inclusion of the surroundings . I think you have got lovely details and very nicely processed as well .

    TFS !

Nice light on the rhino, and good context in the composition.
Wondering what was on the RHS, perhaps there could be a "cleaner" channel to the rhino than what we see on the LHS? Although then you'd have the lit-up side of the animal towards the left which might weaken the compositional placement.

Thanks Haseeb and Morkel. Morkel - there was more of the same to the right. I was happy whenever I just got a clear view with the head up. She mostly spent her time moving from bush to bush browsing.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

    Hello Rachel,

Beautiful specimen and I love the stance, he is obviously checking you out:) Funny how Black Rhino like to investigate, they come so close and show real interest in what is going on. Ears like funnels, he is listening. I am assuming it is a "he" because of the visible wounds, those boys like to challenge each other and often have wounds on the body too.
Lovely light Rachel, I like the composition too and inclusion of environment. Subject pops nicely, well processed as expected and truly a special sighting - I enjoyed viewing, thank you for sharing my friend

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks Gabriela, but "he" is actually a "she". It's the same rhino that I posted with its calf in the other image.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

    Thank you Rachel:)

Why the wounds, then? Could it be the thorny bushes she has been nibbling on? Shall I go back and edit my reply, LOL. Just kidding, I'd rather find something to process...

Have a lovely evening my friend,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks Sanjeev. Gabriela - I don't think she had any wounds, just a crack in the horn.
