The old ski lift is just in frame, nothing I could do as the location did not allow me to get lower, plus he was within feet of me and any movement would have sent him back under the lift for another 10-15 minutes. I could just crop more off the top. As I was kneeling and holding the pose, I could sense cramp beginning to set in, not a nice feeling. Light was constantly changing likewise he was darting about, constantly on the lookout for predators.

Hi Steve we are here ... tired of running too much ( Speedy) and me driving 800 km on german highways to transport a Sea Lion to Stuttgart Zoo .
Back to the image , a very cool and typical pose of the Marmots , which i really like .
I think you made the best out of it , under the given circumstances .
I agree the BG is not ideal .... but when i blend it out it does look good . Did it rain when you have been there ?
At least it does look overcast , so you have low contrast and dull colors to begin with , it does look good to me in terms of contrast and base colors , very natural . As a personal view i might give more tonal and color depth , to give a bit more pop .
Very nice fine detail and sharpness does look very good .

This guy does look like a younger one

Trust it wash't on the motorbike!!!

HAHA, it was one of those days, brilliant sunshine/winter looming, above 3000m it was snowing so nice to avoid any strong contrast & highlights. I'll take a look when I'm back, in all honesty this processed to get out quickly for proofing so perhaps a bit more 'pop' wouldn't hurt, but you know me, more conservative on the 'pop' front.

Very nice fine detail and sharpness does look very good .
This is why I have no worries in pushing the SS, I'll accept happily a bit of noise in an image in exchange for a sharp file.

No idea on the age, but I certainly gained his confidence - I think?

Hi Steve -- I think this will be the first time we have seen Marmots image being posted one after another .
It is turning out to be great fun for us and the images are really very good technically and otherwise .

I like the standing pose with nice details and soft colours . Good sharpness as usual .

unfortunate abt the BKG also that diagonal brownish blade of OOF grass in the FG is a bit distracting .

Hi Steve - Cute, alert pose but the ski lift in the bg ruins it for me. I know you also try to avoid hand of man elements and understand you could not avoid it. Techs look good otherwise.

Hi Steve, never seen such a fat Marmot. The ones we have in Yellowstone are golden type, not grey like this one. The fur details are great. Good pose. Too bad about the BG. I'd suggest taken out the dark band on top to lessen the impact, but really not much you can do. Thank you for helping with my kitten's image. Loi

As with Haseeb I'm really enjoying all the marmot shots too keep them coming guys. Steve love the pose ,as you say what could you do about the ski lift? I do prefer a slight crop from the top to pull that out . the detail is fantastic Steve!!

    take care

I have never seen so many Marmots on BPN, Steve

Love this cute fellow! How can Andreas tell whether he's young or old? They all look adorable to me:)

Wonderful expression captured. This well processed as expected, with lovely detail and colours as well as sharpness. I just wish the ski lift wasn't pink

I'd better go process something now, even if it is from the archives

    Wishing you a lovely afternoon,
    Gabriela Plesea
