    Hi folks ,
another frame of the Marmots from Filzmoos in Austria just taken a week ago .
Sun had set very early behind the mountains that i was forced to push that Iso at 4 pm in the afternoon .it was the last Marmot that was visible of the colony ..... all others already disappeared .
My last subject was not skittish at all .
So i opted for a tight head shot after slowly approaching the guy .

    Canon EOS 1 Dx
    EF 500 IS L II
    HH

    F 6,3 ; Iso 12800 ; 1/ 1600 sec ; abit more DOF would have been better but ......

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC ; almost FF

Thanks for watching and commenting to my last posting .

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas, I like this a lot, it just works - welcome to the world of 'pushing the ISO', hopefully it may spur others to try it?

Hi Andreas -- This is fantastic , yes certainly a bit more dof would have been better but not a deal breaker . I think this one of the finest portraits of this specie using such a high iso !

    Hello Andreas,

Not bad at all for 12.800 ISO I love the tonality here and that deep green BG helps the subject pop really nicely. Love the cute and slightly arrogant pose from this Marmot:)

Really drawn to the reflection in the eye - will I see my Boetie there if I look closer?

Well processed Andreas, we both know this would have been such an awesome frame with just a tad more DOF, still stunning to me and such a pleasure to view, well composed and you captured so much character from this fellow.

Would you believe I have nothing new to share... not an easy task looking at and processing older images but I shall see what I can do...

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Andreas - It looks good against that green bg and I like the teeth showing. Agree about the dof. It looks great at this size for such a high ISO. Well done.

Hi Andreas, a great frame for such high ISO! Very good details, superb BG and lovely eye contact with those teeth showing. Nicely done. Love the muted colors too.

Hi Gabriela, old/new they are all the same, just when you have time share your encounters, bolster by the wonderful narration's, we ALL miss them. How about some 'pointy' friends?

Hi all, thanks a lot for your kind comments , as always much appreciated .

Gabriela - i can only echo Steve regarding your " old images " , i think we also miss your narrations . So please give yourself a kick and show even older stuff , if they are pointed or not ....

    Cheers andreas

You've extracted good detail here Andreas, with a wonderful clean BG also, can't help but wonder that you had ample S/S to drop the ISO down to 6400, perhaps.

    Dearest Steve and Andreas,

All recent "pointy" ones are similar to those I posted in Story Sequences, I am afraid. I will search the archives at the week-end for something more cheerful.
Yes I have been scarce, but just a warning: brace yourselves for the moment I come back full time, even Sanjeev won't be able to keep up with me

    Have a good evening,

Canon have learnt Morkel from the 'Darkside' and deliver the awesome 1DX MKII, exceeding Nikon's AF and ISO now, even with the D5 . Nikon have also learnt from Canon, providing their owners with the two options in tailoring their AF as per Canon's 'Cases' options, but we have three . It's amazing if you put the D5 in Auto only.

Stick a Nikon sensor in a 1DX MKII and that would be the camera everyone would want!
