Too k this capture while visiting Firt Desoto three weeks ago . There were a pair of them so this provided some lovely courting activity. This particular image occurred just after the two had met for a moment and he was quite pleased himself.

    Hey Judy,
Beautiful image of this mating dance. The wing position, eye contact and the light blue water are very nice.

You are makinng me to love this species. The elongated feathers on the neck and th ehead are to die for. Really beautifful pose. I would love to see more shadows on the underparts because the use of shadow/highlights filter is too much strong in my opinion. Really love the pose of the birds withe the bill facing to the sky, the open wings and the raised leg... it looks like some kind of worship to an unknow god of the herons ;)

Judy, I love it!!! The action is the best, but the one thing that really is lovely is the nice soft colors. And the iciing on the cake is it is sharp where it needs to be.

I would SO love to see one of these birds. Your image captures the antics I've read about precisely and very enjoyably Judy...

    So nicely done...
