    Default Eland Herd

I thought I would kick off October's Theme of Animals with Antlers, Horns or Tusks with an animal we don't often see posted, the Eland. I was warned that at Tswalu many of the antelopes, including the Elands, were often skittish and would run as soon the vehicles stopped. On my first drive we had our most cooperative herd of Elands. They did move off but did so parallel to the road rather than turning tail and giving us the typical tourist view. As a result I was able to capture a couple of frames. I liked the head angles in this one best.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Rachel -- I really liked this frame ! Nice parallel run with some dust being kicked off and the shining antlers / horns gives it a very nice appearance. I also liked the same legs of all the leading Elands coming down simultaneously.
I feel the the ss is some what low for such a scenario but you have done well in freezing the action. Wish the FG was more clean but not a deal breaker .

    TFS !

One of the largest herd of Elands I have seen Rachel. I like the comp, the HA of the herd & light. TFS.

Rachel - the guides should have told you that Eland EVERYWHERE are skittish . The same every time in every reserve I've seen them - you stop, they run.
Nice soft light and colours here, and you got them in a rare opportunity of pleasing running angle.

Rachael, love the soft golden light and the large heard of Eland. I have seen Eland before, but never in a large herd like this moving along. Well done. Loi
