    Default Sanderling

I thought I would add my take on these always fun to capture shore birds. Taken handheld in the early morning from the water looking back towards the beach. 1/2000, f8, auto ISO-1000, 500mm + 1.4X. All feedback appreciated as always.

I love shorebirds and will always click on an image. I like the preening poses and the movement of the water. Also like the funky reflections. There are some issues to me. As an fyi, these are Sanderling and not Semipalmated Sandpipers. I don't think the back and out of focus bird helps you here. To me it is a distraction. Sun angle was not the best and the right side of both birds seem too hot to me. Image also looks like it needs some counter clockwise rotation as well.

Issac - Thanks for the feedback and the heads up on identification. I will correct the title. The beach is naturally sloping towards the water and I think would look unnatural to level.

    Beautiful sleeping beauties.
If mine I would clean the water as much as possible.

Thanks for the advice. I agree it would look better with a smooth water surface.

This is a nice record shot of a tranquil shore moment, but otherwise isn't doing too much for me, to be honest. The oof bird is a distraction, and the empty space on the right, while showing the moving water nicely, occupies too much of the frame IMO.

  7. Thanks John Whaley thanked for this post
