Some Green-winged Teals made their way into the middle of an unspoiled carpet of Duckweed and foraged for food within it. This provided some entertaining frames with various duckweed patterns stuck to faces and hanging rom bills. Not the most comfortable lying along the marsh's mucky edge, but lots of fun to take the images and then review / process them. This one is an early favorite...

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/8, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, toned down the brightest duckweed on the face, darkened the pupil (did not touch the iris), duckweed left as is, including BG and FG - it was quite clean!

This is great Dan, the weeds add a lot to the shot, especially with the eye still being visible.

Boy, you got right into it this time Daniel----I'm beginning to think you may be part muskrat and you sure caught an interesting image here. I really like the foreground focused detail of the duckweed and the way it fades into blur- the eye peaking out from the weed was great shot timing.

Great perspective and image. Never would have thought to get a shot like this but it sure does work for me. Also you are very lucky to be able to get so close to these guys. Just about all of the ducks except the local Mallards, won't let you get within 100 feet or so in NYC. I like the color palette very much as well.

I like it..very interesting shoot. For me less space in the left side could give more dinamic idea to the situation
